Gene is a British alternative rock band formed in 1994 in Birmingham, England, consisting of Martin Gillespie (vocals), Steve Mason (guitar), Matt James (bass), and Rob KPA (drums). The band gained prominence during the Britpop era of the mid-1990s with hits like "Speak to Me" and "Olympian," before disbanding in 1997 and later reuniting in 2004.
